How to scan using MF Scan Utility or an application is described here.

Scanning from MF Scan Utility

1. Place the original in the feeder or on the platen glass.

2. Start MF Scan Utility.
 
Windows
[ Start] [Canon] folder [MF Scan Utility]

Mac
[Applications] [Canon MF Utilities] folder [Canon MF Scan Utility]

3. Select the machine in [Product Name].
If necessary, click [Settings] and set detailed options. Setting the File Format and Original Orientation for Scanning (MF Scan Utility)

4. Click [Document] or [Photo] according to the type of original to be scanned.
Scanning starts and the file is saved in the [Document] folder (on Mac: the [Pictures] folder).

NOTE
If you have not changed the settings, and selected [Document], files are saved as color PDFs. If you selected [Photo], files are saved as color JPEGs.
If scanning is not possible,


Scanning from an application

1. Place the original in the feeder or on the platen glass.

2. From the application, select the start scan command.
How to select the command depends on the application. Refer to the instruction manual of the application you are using.

3. Select the machine's scanner driver.
Select ScanGear MF or WIA. If you select ScanGear MF, you can make detailed scan settings.
How to use ScanGear MF,

4. Make scan settings if necessary.

5. Click [Scan].
The scan begins and the image is sent to the application.

If scanning is not possible,
