Description

Learn how to connect your PIXMA MG6220 to a wireless network (LAN).

Solution

To use this printer with your computer, the drivers and software must be installed to your computer.

Follow the steps below to set up your PIXMA multifunction machine on a Wi-Fi® network.

Before you begin

  • Make sure your computer is connected to the wireless router.

  • The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary depending on your system environment.

  • In an office setup, consult your network administrator

Note Important notes

  • Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).

  • Quit all running applications before installation.

  • Don't switch users during the installation process.

  • It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and don't remove the Setup CD when you restart.

  • If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If this message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

Use the Setup CD to connect

  1. Insert the Setup CD that came with your printer.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions until you get to screen 1-2 shown below, and select Wireless Connection.

Screen 1-2 Select Wireless Connection as the method to connect

Continue to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Download the Setup file to connect

If you don't have access to the Setup CD that came with your printer, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the PIXMA MG6220 page.

  2. If your computer's operating system isn't automatically detected, select it from the drop-down menu.

  3. From the Drivers tab, choose Select to the right of the listing for the Mini Master Setup.

  4. Select the Download button to save the file to your computer.

Drivers & Downloads screen with Select chosen to the right of Mini Master Setup.

  5. Once the download completes, double-click on the file from its download location to begin installation.

Note If you have a Mac® that's running macOS® 10.9 - 10.13, the Mini Master Setup is not supported on your computer. You'll need to first download and install the CUPS printer driver and the scanner driver from the Drivers section. It's also recommended that you download and install MP Navigator EX and the IJ Network Tool from the Software section. Then, use one of these alternative methods to connect your printer to the wireless network:

When using these methods to set up your printer, you'll need to add the printer to your Printer List.
