Standalone Fax Users:
If you plan to use the MultiPASS C755 as a standalone fax machine, then the MultiPASS Software is not required to setup your fax machine. See the Standalone Fax Manual for instructions on how to program your name, fax number, and other user settings.

Important Notice

When you've downloaded and executed the driver file for the C755, this document and the driver installation files will automatically extract to C:\TEMP\SETUP\ directory. It is recommended that you follow these instructions carefully to avoid delays during the installation.

Parallel Port Connection

If you are connecting your MultiPASS C755 to the computer using a parallel port cable, make sure there is a secure connection between the computer and MultiPASS prior to turning on the computer.

  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Plug in the power cord to the MultiPASS.
  3. Connect the data cable from the MultiPASS to the computer.
  4. Turn on the computer.
  5. If you see any of the screens listed below, click 'Cancel':
  • New Hardware Found
  • Update Device Driver Wizard
  • New Hardware Wizard
  1. When you have returned to the Windows desktop, close any open applications before continuing with the software installation.

Note: It is recommended to close all applications including virus protection programs.

  1. Click 'Start' and then 'Run'.

  2. In the 'Open' box of the Run window, type "c:\temp\setup\setup". Then click 'OK'.

  3. Click 'Next' to begin installation.

  4. Close all applications, then click 'Continue' at the Warning Information box.

  5. Click 'Next' at the MultiPASS Suite welcome screen.

  6. Click 'Browse', at the Choose a destination directory screen to select another destination folder, or click 'Next' to install the MultiPASS Suite to C:\Program Files\Canon\MultiPASS.

  7. Read the MultiPASS C755 Installation window to select which Receive Mode you want to setup on your fax. At the Fax Information Setup window, enter your fax heading and how you would like faxes to be received. For example, should faxes print to the MultiPASS or save to your computer's hard drive? Click 'OK' after all entries have been entered.

  8. Click 'Next' or 'Finish' to move from one screen to the next and to install all the MultiPASS programs.

  9. Click 'Finish' when Setup is complete and has launched the MultiPASS Status Monitor and MultiPASS Toolbar.

  10. Restart your computer when the Setup program has completed the MultiPASS installation.

Windows 98 USB Connection

If you are connecting a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable from your Windows 98 computer to the MultiPASS, do not connect the USB cable until after your computer is turned on and Setup requests the connection.

  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Plug in the power cord to the MultiPASS.
  3. Do Not connect the USB cable at this time
  4. Turn on the computer.
  5. When you have returned to the Windows desktop, close any open applications before continuing with the software installation.

Note: It is recommended to close all applications including virus protection programs.

  1. Click 'Start' and then 'Run'.

  2. In the 'Open' box of the Run window, type "c:\temp\setup\setup". Then click 'OK'.

  3. Click 'Next' to begin installation.

  4. Close all applications and then click 'Continue' at the Warning Information box.

  5. Connect the USB cable to the computer and to the MultiPASS when Setup displays "MultiPASS printer not found" message.

  6. Click 'Yes' to the "MultiPASS printer not found" window after the printer driver is installed.

  7. Click 'OK' at the Setup window once the Master Installer has detected the printer driver is already installed.

  8. Click 'Next' at the MultiPASS Suite welcome screen.

  9. Click 'Browse', at the Choose a destination directory screen to select another destination folder, or click 'Next' to install the MultiPASS Suite to C:\Program Files\Canon\MultiPASS.

  10. Read the MultiPASS C755 Installation window to select which Receive Mode you want to setup on your fax. At the Fax Information Setup window, enter your fax heading and how you would like faxes to be received. For example, should faxes print to the MultiPASS or save to your computer's hard drive? Windows 2000 USB Connection

If you are connecting a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable from your Windows 2000 computer to the MultiPASS, connect the USB cable after Windows is turned on.

  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Plug in the power cord to the MultiPASS.
  3. Do Not connect the USB cable at this time
  4. Turn on the computer.
  5. When you have returned to the Windows desktop, close any open applications before continuing with the software installation.

    Note: It is recommended to close all applications including virus protection programs.

  6. Connect the USB cable to the computer and to the MultiPASS.

  7. Click 'Next' at the Found New Hardware Wizard welcome window.

  8. Confirm that the 'Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)' radio button is selected and then click 'Next'

    Note: The wizard may detect your device as Unknown.

  9. Make sure the 'Specify a location' box is checked and be sure to uncheck the other options. Click 'Next'.

  10. Type "c:\temp\setup\w2kdrv\disk1\" in the Copy manufacturer's files from box and then click 'OK'.

  11. Click 'Next' after Windows finds a driver for your MultiPASS.

  12. Confirm that Windows has found the driver file in the following path: c:\temp\setup\w2kdrv\disk1\c755.inf

  13. If the MPMASDLL warning box appears, click 'Cancel'.

  14. Click 'Finish' when Found New Hardware Wizard is complete.

  15. If the Master Installer does not automatically launch, click 'Start' and then 'Run' at the Windows desktop.

  16. In the 'Open' box of the Run window, type "c:\temp\setup\setup". Then click 'OK'.

  17. Click 'Next' to begin installation.

  18. Close all applications then click 'Continue' at the Warning Information box.

  19. Click 'OK' at the Setup window once the Master Installer has detected the printer driver is already installed.

  20. Click 'Next' at the MultiPASS Suite welcome screen.

  21. Click 'Browse', at the Choose a destination directory screen to select another destination folder, or click 'Next' to install the MultiPASS Suite to C:\Program Files\Canon\MultiPASS.

  22. Read the MultiPASS C755 Installation window to select which Receive Mode you want to setup on your fax.
