Receiving Faxes on an Optical Line

Using the optical line is not guaranteed for machine operation. If the provider guarantees the following two points, however, you can use the optical line without Canon's guarantee.

• Telephone speech quality equivalent to general lines
• "Super G3" is guaranteed for the machine operation.

* For the specifications of your line, contact your telephone carrier.

The optical line performs data communication in packet units. Sounds are only intermittent even if the packets are missing temporarily. However, fax communication may miss fax data due to missing packets, resulting in communication error. If the error occurs, change the <RX Start Speed>.

1. Press [](Menu).

2. Press [] or [] to select <System Management Settings>, and then press [OK].

3. Press [] or [] to select <Communication Management Settings>, and then press [OK].

4. Press [] or [] to select <Fax Settings>, and then press [OK].

5. Press [] or [] to select <RX Start Speed>, and then press [OK].

6. Press [] or [] to select the receive start speed, and then press [OK].

7. Press [] (Menu) to close the menu screen.

If the problem is not solved after the change, contact the provider you are using.
