Learn how to wirelessly connect your devices to your PIXMA TR150 via the Wireless Direct connection method.

Solution

Follow the procedure below to set up and use the Wireless Direct method.

Before you begin

 You can connect up to 5 devices to the printer at the same time with Wireless Direct.

  • If your Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is set to prioritize Wi-Fi Direct, the printer will confirm if you will allow the device to connect to the printer.

  • When you connect a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device to the printer, select the device name displayed on the printer LCD from your device.

  • You can print from your smartphone or tablet with the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY. Download it from App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android™.

Change the printer settings to use Wireless Direct.

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on.

  2. Select the Setup icon Setup icon on the HOME screen, and then press the OK button.

  3. Select LAN settings and then press the OK button.

  4. Select Wireless Direct and then press the OK button.

  5. Select Advanced mode and then press the OK button.

  6. Check the displayed message and then press the OK button.

  7. Select ON and then press the OK button.

    Wireless Direct mode is enabled and a device can be connected to the printer wirelessly.

 To show the password, select ON. To hide the password, select OFF.

  • A password may or may not be required based on the device you use when you connect it to the printer. 

 

Change the device settings and connect It to the printer

  1. Turn on the Wi-Fi function on your device. Please review your device's instruction manual for more information

  2. Select DIRECT-XXXX-TR150series (X represents alphanumeric characters) from list displayed on your device.

 If DIRECT-XXXX-TR150series does not appear on the list, Wireless Direct is not enabled.

  1. Enter the printer's password. Your device is now connected to the printer.

 Find the password for the Wireless Direct via the network settings printout or through the LAN settings section of the printer.

  • A password may or may not be required based on the device you use when you connect it to the printer.

 Make sure the name on the LCD is the same as that of your wireless communication device, and select Yes.

 

Change Wireless Direct settings

 If you change the Wireless Direct setting of the printer, you also need to change the device's wireless router setting.

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on.

  2. Select the Setup icon Setup icon on the HOME screen and then press the OK button.

  3. Select LAN settings and then press the OK button.

  4. Select Wireless Direct and then press the OK button.

  5. Select a setting item and then press the OK button.

  • Show setting info:

    • A confirmation screen is displayed whether you want to display password information.

    • When you select ON or OFF, the setting values for Wireless Direct are displayed.

    • Devices detect the printer by Network (SSID) / device name shown on the screen.

  • Change network name (SSID):

    • Change the identifier (SSID) for Wireless Direct.

    • The identifier (SSID) is the printer's name (device name) displayed on a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device.

    • Follow the procedure below to change the identifier (SSID):

      • To set manually:

        • Select Change manually.

        • Review the message and select Next.

        • Enter the identifier or printer name.

        • Confirm the content and select OK.

      • To set automatically:

        • Select Auto update.

        • Select Yes.

        • To show the password, select ON and to hide the password, select OFF.

        • You can check the updated setting.

  • Change password:

    • Change the password for Wireless Direct.

      • To set manually:
        • Select Change manually.

        • Check the displayed message and select Next.

        • Enter the new password (10 characters).

        • Confirm the inputted content and select OK.

      • To set automatically:

        • Select Auto update.

        • Select Yes.

        • To show the password, select ON and to hide the password, select OFF.

        • You can check the updated setting.

  • Connection request confirmation:

    • Change the confirmation screen setting when a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connecting to the printer.

    • If you want the printer to display the screen to inform you a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connecting to the printer, select ON.

 To prevent unauthorized access, we recommend you select the setting to display the confirmation screen.
