Description

Learn how to use Wireless Direct with your PIXMA TS6220, which allows you to print and scan directly to your printer without the use of a wireless router.

Solution

Follow the procedures below to use Wireless Direct.

 You can connect up to 5 devices to the printer at the same time.

  • Check the usage restrictions and switch the printer to the Wireless Direct.

  • If you change the Wireless Direct setting of the printer you also need to change the wireless router settings of the device.
     

Enable Wireless Direct on the printer.

  1. Turned on the printer.

  2. Select the setup icon   on the HOME screen.

  3. Select the Device settings  icon.

  4. Select LAN settings.

  5. Select Wireless Direct. The Wireless Direct setting list screen appears.

  6. Select Settings.

  7. Select Enable/disable Wireless Direct.

  8. Select ON. The Wireless Direct mode is enabled and a device can be connected to the printer wirelessly.
     
 To show the password, select Show password. To hide the password, select Hide password.
  • The Wireless Direct setting list screen shows settings for Wireless Direct.

  • Devices detect the printer by the Network (SSID) or device name shown on the screen.

  • Based on the device you use, a password may or may not be required when you connect it to the printer.

  • When you connect a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device to the printer, select the device name displayed on the touch screen from your device.

  • The identifier (SSID) and the security setting are specified automatically.
     

Prepare the device to connect to the printer.

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your device's settings menu.

     For more information on Wi-Fi functions, refer to your device's instruction manual.

  2. Select DIRECT-XXXX-TS6200series, where X represents alphanumeric characters, from list displayed on your device.

     If DIRECT-XXXX-TS6200series does not appear on the list, Wireless Direct is not enabled.

  3. Enter the password. Your device is now connected to the printer.

     Check the password for Wireless Direct via LAN settings or the network settings printout.

  • Based on the your device, the specified password for the printer is required and must be entered to complete the connection.

  • If your Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is set to prioritize Wi-Fi Direct, the printer will display a confirmation screen to allow the device to connect to the printer.

  • Make sure the name on the touch screen and your device are the same, and then select Yes.
     

Print and scan with Wireless Direct.

  1. After the device and the printer are connect, you can print or scan from the app that supports in on your device.

  2. For more information on how to print or scan from your device via Wi-Fi, please refer to the device's or application's instruction manual.

  3. You can also print or scan from your smartphone or tablet via the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.

 

Change Wireless Direct settings.

  1. Turned on the printer.

  2. Select the setup icon   on the HOME screen.

  3. Select the Device settings  icon.

  4. Select LAN settings. The LAN settings screen appears.

     To print network settings, select Print details in the LAN settings screen.

  5. Select Wireless Direct. The Wireless Direct setting list screen appears.

  6. Select Settings.

  7. Select a setting item.

    Wireless Direct Settings items

  • Change SSID/device name:

    • The identifier (SSID) is the printer's name (device name) displayed on a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device.

    • Auto update displays the confirmation screen. To update the identifier (SSID) and the password, select Yes. You can check the updated identifier (SSID)/password on the Wireless Direct setting list screen.

    • Follow the procedure below to change the identifier (SSID).

      • Select the entry field.

      • Enter the identifier (SSID) (up to 32 characters) and select OK.

      • Select OK to verify the identifier (SSID).

  • Change password:

    • Change manually displays the entry field.

    • Auto update displays the confirmation screen. To update the identifier (SSID) and the password, select Yes. You can check the updated identifier (SSID)/password on the Wireless Direct setting list screen.

    • Follow the procedure below to change the password.

      • Select the entry field.

      • Enter the password (up to 10 characters) and select OK.

      • Select OK to specify the password.

  • Connection request confirmation:

    • Change the confirmation screen setting when a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connecting to the printer.

    • If you want the printer to display the screen to inform you a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connecting to the printer, select Yes.

    • To prevent an unauthorized access, we recommend you should not change the setting from the default.

  1. Press the Home button . The Home screen is displayed.
