Connecting your printer to Alexa

  1. How do I get started printing with Alexa?
To print with Alexa, your printer must be connected to the same wireless network as your Alexa device. To get started, first you’ll need to connect your printer to Alexa. Simply say “Alexa, discover my printer”, or navigate to the Devices screen in the Alexa App, select “+”, select “Add Device”, and choose “Printer” as the device type. If you are having trouble connecting your printer to Alexa, please refer to FAQ #5.

  2. I don’t want my printer connected to Alexa – how can I remove it?
You can delete your device by going to your Alexa app and removing your printer. To delete your device, go to the Alexa app and the devices menu, then select your device. Click the trash icon to delete your printer. In the future – if you change your mind - you can say, “Alexa, discover my printer,” and Alexa will try to reconnect to it.

You can also disable your device to prevent device rediscovery. To disable your device, go to the Alexa app and the devices menu, then select your device and then toggle off Enable.

  3. How do I rename my device, view or change device settings, or see my current inventory?
Select “Devices” in the bottom right corner of the Alexa app, select “All Devices”, and choose the device you just set up. To rename your device, select “Edit Name”. To view or change your Device Settings and see your current inventory, click on “Change” under “Supply”.

  4. How do I know if my printer works with Alexa?
Alexa works with most IPP-enabled network connected printers manufactured by HP, Brother, Canon, Epson, and Xerox. To check if your printer is compatible with Alexa, say “Alexa, discover my printer.” We will be adding additional supported printers over time.

  5. My printer isn’t connecting to Alexa – what should I do to troubleshoot?
To connect with Alexa, your printer must have its power turned on and must be connected to the same wireless network as Alexa. Your printer must also have IPP and MDMS settings turned on. If you still are unable to connect to Alexa, your printer is not compatible with Alexa at this time. To contact customer service for further assistance, please call 1 (888)-280-4331.
