Wi-Fi Set Up for the PIXMA TS9020 Printer

Description

Use wireless direct connection to connect your computer and mobile devices to the PIXMA TS9020 for use without the need of a router.

Solution

Please follow these steps to change the settings on your printer so you can connect a mobile device.


Change the settings on your printer

  1. Turn the printer ON.
  2. Select Setup  on the HOME screen of the printer's operation panel.

  3. Select Settings .

  4. Select  Device settings .

  5. Select LAN settings.

  6. Select Wireless Direct®.

  7. Select Wireless Direct active / inactive.

  8. Select ON. The confirmation screen appears.

  9. Select Yes or No. The list of Wireless Direct settings displays. Your mobile device detects the printer by the identifier (SSID).
     The identifier (SSID) and the security setting are specified automatically. Change the Wireless Direct settings.

    You can check the following:

  • SSID.

  • Security setting.

  • Password.

  • Printer's name which appears on a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device.

The password may be required when you connect a device to the printer. When you connect a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device to the printer, select the device name that shows on your device's touch screen.

  1. Select OK. Wireless Direct is enabled. You can connect a wireless device to the printer. 

     

Change mobile settings and connect to printer

  1. Turn on wireless communication on your device.

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your device's Setting menu. For help, see your device's instruction manual.

  2. Select DIRECT-XXXX-TS9000series ("X" represents alphanumeric characters) from the list that displays on your device.
     If DIRECT-XXXX-TS9000series doesn't appear on the list, Wireless Direct isn't enabled. You will need to change the printer's settings to enable Wireless Direct.

  3. Enter the Wireless Direct password. Do one of the following if you don't know the password:

  4. Depending on your mobile device, you may need enter the printer password.

  5. If your device is set to use Wi-Fi Direct when it connects to the printer, the printer screen displays a message asking if you want to connect. Make sure the name on the printer screen matches the one on your device, then tap Yes.
     
     

Print / scan with Wireless Direct

For more on printing or scanning from a device on a wireless network, refer to the device's or application's instruction manual.

To print / scan from your mobile device, you need to install Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY. Download it from the Apple Store® or Google Play™.

 


Change printer settings to use wirelessly

If you want to reconnect your printer to your wireless network (LAN), follow the steps below to change the printer setting.

  1. Select Setup  on the home screen of the operation panel.

  2. Select Settings .

  3. Select Device settings .

  4. Select LAN settings.

  5. Select Wireless LAN.

  6. Select WLAN active / inactive.

  7. Select Active. If you don't use the printer over wireless LAN, select Inactive.
     


Change wireless direct setting

Follow the steps below to change the settings for Wireless Direct.

  1. Turn the printer ON.

  2. Select Setup  on the HOME screen of the operation panel.

  3. Select Settings .

  4. Select  Device settings .

  5. Select LAN settings.

  6. Select Wireless Direct.

  7. Select one of the following:

  • Update the (SSID) and the password for Wireless Direct.

    • Tap A to display the confirmation screen. To update the identifier (SSID) and the password, tap Yes.

    • To check the security setting and the updated password, tap Details, then Yes on the next screen.

  • Change the printer name that displays on the Wi-Fi Direct compatible device.

  1. Tap B to display the printer's name.

  2. Tap the touch screen.

  3. Enter a device name (up to 32 characters).

  4. Tap OK to finish entering the device name.

  5. Tap OK to finish.

  • Change the confirmation screen that displays when a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device connects to the printer.

     
    • Tap C to display the confirmation screen. Tap Yes to have the printer inform you that a device is ready to connect.

Caution To prevent unauthorized access, we recommend that you leave the setting in the default mode.

  • To check the current Wireless Direct settings.

    • Tap D to display the confirmation screen. To check the current Wireless Direct settings, tap Yes.

Tip If you select Print details, you can print the network settings.

  1. Press HOME button to return to the HOME screen.



Good to know

You can connect up to five mobile devices to the printer by two methods.

  • Wireless connection (connect devices via a wireless router)

  • Direct wireless connection (connect devices using Wireless Direct)


Check the usage restrictions before you switch the printer to the Wireless Direct.

Change settings below to prepare for Wireless Direct.

 If you change the Wireless Direct setting of the printer, also change the wireless router setting of the device.
