Disable Direct OCR in OmniPage SE

Solution

Disable Direct OCR

If you cannot locate the 25-character product key to register your word processing application (Microsoft Office 2003), you can keep the message window from appearing when you start (or restart) your computer by the following procedures.

Note: By performing this procedure, you will not be able to scan a document directly into one of the Microsoft Office products. Enter the Product Key if you want to scan a document directly into one of the Microsoft Office products.

  1. If this message appears while installing OmniPage SE or starting (or restarting) your computer, click 'OK' at the window (as shown below).



  2. Click 'Cancel' at the Microsoft Office 2003 Setup window.



  3. Launch OmniPage SE.

    1. Click 'Start'.

    2. Click 'All Programs (Programs)', 'ScanSoft OmniPage SE 2.0', then 'OmniPage SE'.



  4. From the OmniPage SE window, select 'Direct OCR' from the Tools Options menu.



  5. At the Options window, click the 'Enable Direct OCR' box to remove the checkmark.



  6. Click 'OK' to disable Direct OCR and close the Options window.

Product Key -

  1. If this message appears while installing OmniPage SE or starting (or restarting) your computer, click 'OK' at the window (as shown below) to enter the product key.



  2. Locate the 25-character product key off of the back of the CD case on your Certificate of Authenticity.

    Note This key should be included with your computer's documentation material. If you cannot find the key, please contact your computer manufacturer.



  3. At the Microsoft Office 2003 Setup window, enter your name and product key in the appropriate boxes and then click 'OK'.
