Printer has solid orange light. Printer does not respond.

Symptom:
The printer is showing a steady error light upon power-up. Often, pressing the power button causes the printer to turn itself ON or OFF instantaneously, without going through the usual motions. (other symptoms may include: the power light may just remain green without any carriage motions when turning on or off)

Solution:
The solution is to remove paper and printer cable and, while the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet.

After 20 or 30 seconds, re-connect the power cord, and power the printer on. The error should be resolved at this point.
