Changing the ISO Speed

Change the ISO speed when shooting in dark places or when you want to shoot with a faster shutter speed. You can choose from the following speeds: Auto, High ISO Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600. This function is only available in Auto, P, Tv, Av, and M modes.

  1. Press the <ISO> button.


  2. Use the or buttons to switch settings.


  3. Shoot the image.

  • Higher ISO speeds increase the image noise. To take clean images, use as low an ISO speed as possible.
  • Although the AUTO setting selects the optimal speed, it will automatically raise the speed when the shooting condition limits are reached. It will also raise the speed when the light from the flash is insufficient to illuminate the subject matter.
  • When is selected, a speed higher than when using Auto is selected. The shutter speed increases even more, and blurriness from hand or subject movement in a scene is less than when taken in Auto. There may be an increase in noise however, when compared to Auto.
