Description

DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW are similar but generally non-interchangable formats. Canon DVD camcorders only use DVD-R/RW discs.

Solution

DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW are similar but generally non-interchangable formats. Canon DVD camcorders only use DVD-R/RW* or DVD-R DL discs (DC10, DC20, DC100, and DC40 are not compatible with DVD-R DL discs).

If a DVD+R/RW disc is loaded into a Canon DVD camcorder the camcorder will display a "DISC ERROR" message after it attempts to read the disc.

*DVD-RW Double sided discs may also be used however each side will need to be initialized before use.

DVD-R discs do not need to be initialized.
