CAUTION

Do not connect the USB cable yet.

You will be prompted to connect it during the installation using the Setup CD-ROM.

Windows

IMPORTANT

• Quit all applications before installation.
• Log on using an administrator account.

REFERENCE

If the computer is equipped with a CD-ROM drive, you can use CD-ROM for installation.

• Click [ Run Msetup4.exe ] on the AutoPlay screen, then click [ Yes ] or [ Continue ] on the User Account Control dialog box.

If the CD-ROM does not autorun:

Double-click [ (My) Computer ] > CDROM icon > [ MSETUP4.EXE. ]

Go to Step 5 and follow the instructions.

1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
    
2. Click Set Up.
    
3. Either type in the model name of your printer, or click the first two letters shown under First Letters. Then, scroll down and click on the model name of your printer.
    
4. Select the region where your printer was purchased.
    
5. On the next page, make sure that Windows is shown in the drop down menu at the upper right corner.  Click Download. The setup file will be downloaded.
   
   
    
6. Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
    
7. Click [ Next ].
   
   
    
8. Click [ USB Connection ].
   
   
   
   NOTE
   If the .NET Framework screen appears, click [Yes].
   
   
    
9. Click [ Next ].
   
   
   
   NOTE
   
   Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later (Windows) is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.
   
   Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
    
10. When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
    
    After connecting the cable, TURN ON THE MACHINE.
    
    
     
11. Click [ Next ].
    
    
    
    If the Extended Survey Program screen appears:
    
    
    
    
    If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click [ Agree ].
    
    If you click [ Do not agree ], the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.
    
    (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)
    
    When the Test Print window is displayed:
    
    
    
    Test printing will be performed to check the printer's operation.
    Load plain paper into the printer and click [ Execute ].
    After test printing, click [ Next ].
    To skip test printing, click [ Next ] instead of [ Execute ].
     
12. Click [ Exit ] to complete the installation.
    
    
    
    The software is installed in your Windows computer.

Mac OS X

IMPORTANT

• Quit all applications before installation.

1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
    
2. Click Set Up.
    
3. Either type in the model name of your printer, or click the first two letters shown under First Letters. Then, scroll down and click on the model name of your printer.
    
4. Select the region where your printer was purchased.
    
5. On the next page, make sure that macOS is shown in the drop down menu at the upper right corner.  Click Download. The setup file will be downloaded.
   
   
   
   NOTE
   If you are using a version of macOS newer than 10.13, this file will not work.  Click here for instructions on how to download and install the drivers and software for your printer.
    
6. After the download has finished, double click on the .dmg file.  A disk image will be placed on your desktop.
    
7. Double-click the [ Setup ] icon.
   
   
    
8. Click [ Next ].
   
   
    
9. In the subsequent screen, enter the administrator name and password. Then click [ Install Helper ].
   
   
    
10. Click [ Next ].
    
    
     
11. Click [ USB Connection ].
    
    
     
12. Click [ Next ].
    
    
    
    Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
     
13. When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
    
    After connecting the cable, TURN ON THE MACHINE.
    
    
     
14. Click [ Next ].

    The software is installed in your Mac OS X computer.

1. Click here to go to the support page for your printer.
    
2. Under the Drivers tab, click the Select buttons to the right of the CUPS printer driver and the ICA driver.
   
   
    
3. Click Download for each of the drivers.
    
4. Click the Software tab.
    
5. Click the Select button to the right of the IJ Scan Utility.
   
   
    
6. After each file has finished downloading, double click them to open them.
    
7. When each file has opened, a window will appear with a package (.pkg) file.  Double click on the package files to run the installers for the drivers and the IJ Scan Utility.
    
8. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the installations.  After installing all three files (CUPS printer driver, ICA driver, IJ Scan Utility), connect your printer to your Mac with a USB cable.
