Align the document guides to fit the documents as closely as possible, and place the documents so that they feed in straight.

1. Before you load the document, thoroughly fan the pages.
   
   
   
2. Load the document into the feed inlet of the scanner with the scanning side of the document face down and the top of the document pointing down.
   
   
3. Align the document guides with edges of the loaded document.
