Installing the MultiPASS Software

To use your MultiPASS in Windows 98, 95, or Windows 3.1x, it is necessary to install the MultiPASS Software. The software includes the following components: MultiPASS Desktop Manager, MultiPASS Printer and Fax Driver.

Standalone Fax Users: If you plan to use the MultiPASS as a standalone fax machine, then the MultiPASS Software is not required.

Software installation

  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Plug in the power cord to the MultiPASS.
  3. Connect the data cable from the MultiPASS to the computer.
  4. Turn on the computer.
  5. If you see any of the screens listed below, click Cancel:
    • New Hardware Found
    • Update Device Driver Wizard
    • New Hardware Wizard
  1. When you have returned to the Windows desktop, close any open applications before continuing with the software installation.

Note: It is recommended to close all applications including virus protection programs.

  1. Insert Disk 1 (BJ Printer Driver Disk 1 of 4) into your computer's floppy drive.
  2. Click Start, Settings, Printers.
  3. Double-click Add Printer.
  4. Click 'Next' at the Add Printer Wizard box. Then click the 'Have Disk' button.
  5. Click 'OK' at the Install From Disk dialog box.
  6. Scroll down the list and highlight 'Canon MultiPASS C2500 Printer', and then click 'Next'.
  7. Select the port to which your MultiPASS is connected and click 'Next'. For example, LPT1.
  8. Click 'Yes' to use the MultiPASS C2500 as Windows default printer then click 'Finish'.
  9. When prompted replace Disk 1 with Disk 2, click 'OK'. Proceed through printer installation by inserting the appropriate disk until the printer setup is complete.
  10. At the Setup dialog box, remove the BJ Printer Driver Disk 4 of 4 and insert MultiPASS Desktop Manager Disk 1 of 3, and click 'OK'.
  11. Click 'Next' at the MultiPASS Utilities welcome screen.
  12. At the Choose Destination Location screen, click 'Browse' to select another destination folder or click 'Next' to install the MultiPASS Utilities to [C:\MPASS\].
  13. When prompted, insert the appropriate disk until the MultiPASS installation is complete.
  14. Click 'Next' after Setup tests the MultiPASS hardware.
  15. Remove the disk and click 'Finish' to restart your computer.
