Description

Perform the following procedure to uninstall and reinstall the MP drivers.

Solution

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver

A Canon IJ Printer that you no longer use can be deleted from the printer list.
Before deleting the Canon IJ Printer, disconnect the cable that connects the printer to the computer.

The procedure to delete the unnecessary Canon IJ Printer from the printer list is as follows:

You cannot delete the Canon IJ Printer unless you are logged in as an user with the administrative right. For information about an administrative user, refer to the Macintosh manuals.

The procedure to delete the unnecessary MP Drivers is as follows:

If you are using Mac OS X v.10.6.x or Mac OS X v.10.5.x

  1. Open System Preferences, and select Print & Fax.

  2. Delete the Canon IJ printer from the printer list.
    From the printer list, select the Canon IJ Printer to be deleted, and then click -.

If you are using Mac OS X v.10.4.11

  1. Launch the Printer Setup Utility.

  2. Delete the Canon IJ printer from the printer list.
    From the printer list, select the Canon IJ Printer to be deleted, and then click Delete.

  • Even if a Canon IJ Printer is deleted from the printer list, you can re-register it automatically by connecting the machine to your computer.

Note: Before connecting the machine to the network, the computer needs to be connected to the network. Make sure that configuration of the computer and access point or router is complete.

Add (connect) the machine to the network.

(A) Internet

(B) Access point or wireless router, etc.


Notes on Wireless Connection
  • The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary depending on your system environment. For details, refer to your device's instruction manual or contact its manufacturer.
  • Check if your device supports IEEE802.11n/g/b.
  • In an office setup, consult your network administrator.
  • If you connect to a network that is not protected with security measures, there is a risk of disclosing data such as your personal information to a third party.
  • If an error message appears or if you have trouble with the network connection, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.


Important:
An "Ad-hoc connection," which establishes a direct connection to the computer over a wireless connection without using an access point, is not supported. Be sure to prepare an access point.

Install the Software

Do not connect the network setup cable (USB cable) yet.

  • To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computer's hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of application software to be installed.)
  • Quit all running applications before installation.
  • Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).
  • Do not switch users during the installation process.
  • Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees may apply. Consult the internet service provider.
  • It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and do not remove the Setup CD-ROM during restarting. The installation resumes once your computer has restarted.
  • If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

Note:

Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Safari 4 or later (Mac OS X v.10.5 or later) is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.

Software Installation:

  1. Insert the Setup CD-ROM.

    1. Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

    2. Double-click the Setup icon of the CD-ROM folder to proceed to the following screen. Enter your administrator name and password, then click OK.


    3. If the CD-ROM folder does not open automatically, double-click the CD-ROM icon on the desktop.

    4. If you do not know your administrator name or password, click the help button, then follow the on-screen instructions.

  2. Click Easy Install.
    The drivers, application software, and on-screen manuals are installed all together.



  3. Click Install.



  4. Select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection, then click Next.



    Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

  5. When the Printer Detection screen appears, click Next.


    1. If the Printer Connection screen appears instead of the above screen, the connection method is not correctly selected in step 4.
    2. Follow on-screen instructions and proceed with the installation. Click Exit on the installation complete screen, then start again from step 1b and be sure to select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection in step 4.

  6. Make sure that any of the lamps on the mode buttons (A) lights, then click OK.



  7. When the Set Up New Printer screen appears, click Next.



    Note: If the Detected Printers List screen appears, click Set Up New Printer.

  8. When the Connect Cable screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with the network setup cable (USB cable).

    The USB Port is located near the center on the back of the machine.



  9. Proceed with the installation according to the displayed screen.
    1. If the Detected Access Points List or Access Points screen appears, go to step 10.
    2. If the Confirm Connection Access Point screen appears, go to step 11.

  10. If the Detected Access Points List or Access Points screen appears.


    1. Select the target access point name/network name (SSID) (1).
    2. Enter the network key (2).
      1. Enter upper and lower case letters of the alphabet correctly. Letters are case sensitive.
      2. To use WEP key number 2, 3 or 4, click WEP Key Number, then specify the WEP key number.
    3. Click Connect and then go to step 12.

      Note:
      • If the target access point is not displayed on the Detected Access Points List or Access Points screen, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.
      • For details on how to check the access point name/network name (SSID) and network key, refer to the manual supplied with your access point or contact its manufacturer.

        SSID: An identifier to identify the specific access point.

        Network Key: Also referred to as encryption key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, Pre-Shared key. A password required to prevent unauthorized access to the network.

  11. If the Confirm Connection Access Point screen appears.



    1. Make sure that the target access point is displayed, then click Yes.
    2. A screen asking for permission to access the keychain will appear. Click Allow or Allow Once.
    3. Go to step 12.
    4. If the target access point is not displayed in the above screen, click No, then perform step 10.

  12. When the Disconnect Cable screen appears, remove the network setup cable (USB cable), then click Next.



  13. If the Automatic Setup screen appears, click OK, then perform step 10.

  14. When the Setup Completion screen appears, click Complete or OK.

Registration

This section describes how to register the printer and scanner for use on a Macintosh computer.

Note:
  • The alphanumeric characters after Canon MX410 series is the machine's Bonjour service name or MAC address.
  • If the machine is not detected, make sure of the following.
    • The machine is turned on.
    • The firewall function of any security software is turned off.
    • The computer is connected to the access point.

  1. When the Register Printer and Scanner screen appears, click Register Printer.


    • Mac OS X v.10.6.x / v.10.5.x users, go to step 2.
    • Mac OS X v.10.4.11 users, go to step 3.

  2. Mac OS X v.10.6.x / v.10.5.x
    1. Select Canon MX410 series canonijnetwork and click Add.


    2. Go to step 4.

  3. Mac OS X v.10.4.11
    1. When the Printer List window appears, click Add.


    2. When the You have no printers available screen appears, click Add.
    3. Click More Printers in the Printer Browser window.


    4. Select Canon IJ Network in the pop-up menu, select Canon MX410 series in the list of printers, then click Add.


    5. Make sure that Canon MX410 series is added to the list of printers.


    6. Go to step 4.

  4. When the Register Printer and Scanner screen appears, click Register Scanner.



  5. Select Canon MX410 series on the Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX screen, then click OK.



  6. Click Next on the Register Printer and Scanner screen.

Information (Print Head Alignment)

  1. Click Next.
    Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.



    Note: If the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen, input the number found inside the machine.



    Important: If the power is on, the FINE Cartridge Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) is opened.


    Reference: The User Registration screen will only be displayed when Europe, Middle East, Africa is selected on the Select Your Place of Residence screen.

  2. If the Extended Survey Program screen appears.


    • If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.
    • If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.
      (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

  3. Click Exit to complete the installation.
    It is necessary to restart the computer before scanning using the Operation Panel on the machine for the first time.



  4. Solution Menu EX starts when clicking OK in the Canon Solution Menu EX dialog.



  5. Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.

    Reference: The buttons displayed on Solution Menu EX may vary depending on the country or region of purchase.

Use from Additional Computers

Reference: If the machine is already connected to a wireless connection, it can be used from additional computers on the same network.

To use from additional computers.

  1. Insert the Setup CD-ROM into the computer from which you want to use the machine.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
    Other settings are not required.



    (A) Computer from which the machine can be used currently

    (B) Additional computers on the same network

    It enables the computer to use the machine.
