If you are having difficulties in installing drivers or software and disabling security software does not help resolve the problem, there could possibly be an issue with your user account on the computer. Follow the steps below to create a new administrator account.
Windows 10
- From the Start menu, navigate to Settings.
- Select Accounts.
- In the left menu, select Family & other users.
- Click Add someone else to this PC.
- Choose whether to create a Microsoft account or a local account.
To create a local account:
- At the bottom, click I don't have this person's sign-in information.
- Click Add a user without a Microsoft account.
- Enter a username and, if desired, a password.
Windows 7 / Vista
- Click on the Start button.
- Click on the Control Panel menu option.
- Click on the Add or remove user accounts control panel option.
- Click on Create a new account.
- In the New account name field enter the name of the new account that you would like to create. Below this, select the Administrator account type.
- When you have finished selecting a name and the type of account you wish to setup, you click on the Create Account button.
Your new account will have been created and you will see it listed in the Manage Accounts screen.
macOS
- Click on the [Apple] icon.
- Click System Preferences.
- Click Accounts (the first icon under System). (If this screen is locked (the padlock icon in the bottom left of the screen is closed), click on the padlock icon to unlock the screen.) When you click on the padlock icon, you will be prompted to provide your password.
- Click on + located directly above the padlock icon (in the lower left corner of the window) and create a new administrator account.
