Solution
Even though this unit does not have a copy counter, here are several suggestions that might prove useful in trying to keep track of the number of copies made (yield) on the copier.
- Write the date on the cartridge using a permanent marker that you inserted the new cartridge.
- Keep track of the number of paper reams you used. If you place 4 reams of paper at the copier, and all 4 reams are used up, then you have made approximate 2,000 copies (each ream is 500 sheets, i.e. 500 X 4 = 2000).
- Keep a job log next to the copier. The log should include a place for tracking faxes as well as print jobs sent from a computer. While this might not be practical in a large office environment, it can be very useful in a smaller environment.
Note: If your copier also acts as a fax machine, every fax and report that it prints counts as a copy (toner is being used). Also, if you have the copier connected to a computer and use it as a printer, every page printed is also a copy.
