How to replace the date/time battery on the PowerShot G1, G2, G3

Solution

The date/time (back-up) battery maintains the camera's date and time. Its service life is about 5 years. If the date/time is reset when the battery is replaced, replace the back-up battery with a new CR2016 lithium battery as described below.

1) Turn off the power and slide the battery cover in the direction of the arrows.

2) Push point (1) with your fingertip while pulling the date time battery holder out to remove it.

3) Insert a fingernail into the groove in the date time battery and push it out in the direction of the arrow.

4) Place a new date battery into the date battery holder with the negative terminal (-) facing upward.

5) Replace the date battery holder, replace the battery pack and close the battery cover.

The date/time setting will also be reset, so be sure to set the correct date/time.

For the date/time battery, be sure to use a CR2016 lithium battery.
