Important!
Unfortunately, on some CanoScan scanner models, there is no obvious way to determine if the scanner is getting power

The following table shows what the scanner's reaction is when the power source is connected.

CCD Lamp lights up (the light for this one is difficult to see - you must look for the light at an angle)

The blue power indicator light on the front of the scanner lid will illuminate when the scanner power is turned on.

Scanner bar and light reacts only if the driver is already installed and the scanner is properly detected. If detected, the scan bar moves slightly and the CCD White LED lights up briefly.
(The Power Button is on the Right Side of the scanner near the back.)

CCD Lamp lights up and the blue power indicator light on the one-touch scanning button panel illuminates.

8800F CCD White LED lights up briefly and the blue power indicator light around the ON/OFF button illuminates.
(The Power Switch is on the Top of the scanner lid next to the one-touch buttons.)
9000F There is blue light surrounding the power button. The power button is towards the top-front of the scanner and is the first button on the left. It is labeled as "ON". Once the power button is pressed and the scanner powers on, the power indicator light that surrounds the power button will illuminate

CCD Lamp lights up and the two green power indicator lights, one on the one-touch scanning button panel and one on the scanner lid, illuminate.
(There is a Power Button on the Front of the scanner.)

9950F CCD Lamp lights up and the blue power indicator light illuminates. This light is located just above the one-touch scanning buttons.
(There is a Power Button on the Front of the scanner.)

CanoScan D660U Special Note: The CanoScan D660U scanner does not react based on a power connection alone. This means, if the scanner is not connected to a computer, then the scanner will not react when the power is disconnected and then reconnected.
