Solution

Delete the printer and reinstall to configure the new printer

If you have replaced your wireless printer with the same model , you will first need to delete the printer then reinstall in the same way as the first time you set up the printer with the computer

Perform the following procedure to delete the printer.

Note:  Login as a user with Administrator privileges to uninstall . Turn off any programs running in the background, such as antivirus programs and firewalls before beginning.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > 'Printers and Faxes' (for Windows XP) or 'Printer' (for Windows Vista) or
    click Start > 'Devices and Printers' (for Windows 7)

     
  2. Delete your original Canon printer icon.


    Right-click your old printer icon and then select delete or remove (MP560 is shown as an example). When the confirmation screen appears, Click Yes or OK.
  3. Setup the printer in the same manner as if installing for the first time. Go to the Wireless Help page and type the printer's model name into the box.  After a few moments, the name of your printer will appear under the box.  Click on the model name of your printer and then click Get Wireless Help. Then, in the Initial Setup section, select Windows. Follow the instructions in the document that opens.

 

Macintosh

Uninstalling the MP Drivers (Mac OS X)

Perform the following procedure to delete the MP drivers:

Note:   Login with a user name with the Computer administrator account type to delete the MP drivers. Regarding Administrator users, please refer to the Mac OS X owner's manual.
 

  1. .In the Apple menu, open System Preferences.


     

  2. Open Print and Fax.

  3. Be sure that the printer to be deleted is highlighted in the Printers section. In OS X 10.4.11, be sure that Printing is selected.

  4. Click the Minus (-) sign, then click 'OK' on the confirmation message. The printer is deleted.
     
  5. Setup the printer in the same manner as if installing for the first time. Go to the Wireless Help page and type the printer's model name into the box.  After a few moments, the name of your printer will appear under the box.  Click on the model name of your printer and then click Get Wireless Help. Then, in the Initial Setup section, select Mac. Follow the instructions in the document that opens.
