Description

This article provides information on maintaining optimal ink quality with the LX-P5510.

Solution

The LX-P5510 gradually settles with the passing of time. Circulation of ink within the print head and through ink flow channels, as well as agitation of the ink in the ink tank must be performed periodically.

Administrative privileges over this printer are required to perform ink refreshing.

The day count for the "Warning" or "Operator Call" of the ink refresh function starts upon the installation of the ink tank. If the ink tank is not replaced in 54 days, "Warning" or "Operator Call" will appear on the status monitor.

Do not execute any other operations while Ink Refresh is in progress. For example, do not open/close the ink tank door, maintenance cartridge door, or upper unit.

Be sure to perform Ink Refresh if "Warning: Ink Refresh Timing 1" or "Operator Call: Exceeding Ink Refresh Timing 1" is displayed.
Note that performing Ink Refresh when"Operator call: Exceeding Ink Refresh Timing 2 or 3" is displayed will consume ink.

Solution

Warning1 55 days to 59 days
[5 days]
Ink refresh timing 1

  • Appears 55 days after the ink tank is loaded. Printer will not stop.

  • Performing ink refresh at this point in time does not consume ink.

  • Once ink refresh is performed, "Warning 1" will be displayed after the next 55 days.

Operator call 1

60 days to 89 days
[30 days]
Exceeding ink refresh timing 1

  • Appears when ink refresh is not performed when "Warning 1"is displayed. Printer will be forcibly stopped.

  • This operation does not consume ink.

  • Once ink refresh is performed, "Warning 1" will be displayed after the next 55 days.

Operator call 2 From the 90 days Exceeding ink refresh timing 2

  • Appears when ink refresh is not performed at both "Warning 1" and "Operator Call 1". Printer will be forcibly stopped.

  • Note that performing ink refresh at this timing will consume ink.

  • Once ink refresh is performed, "Warning 1" will be displayed after the next 55 days.

Operator call 3 60 days or longer Exceeding ink refresh timing 3

  • Appears if printing or ink refresh has not been performed at all for 60 days or more since last printing operation (only tuning on the power does not count as printing operation). Printer will be forcibly stopped.

  • Settling of the ink will have progressed to a point where it cannot be returned to the ink tank, therefore all ink within the flow channels is discharged.

  • Note that this operation will consume large amount of ink. In order to avoid this condition, at least 1 printing operation every 2 months is recommended.

  • Once ink refresh is performed, "Warning 1" will be displayed after the next 55 days.
