Follow the steps below to print or scan with wireless direct.
You can connect up to five devices to the printer at the same time.
Change the printer setting to use wireless direct.

Turn the printer on.

Select the Setup icon on the HOME screen.

Select the Settings icon .

Select the Device Settings icon .

Select LAN settings.

Select Wireless Direct.
-
Select Wireless Direct active/inactive.

Select ON. The password confirmation screen appears.

Select Yes or No.
- The list of Wireless Direct settings displays where you can check the items below:

Select OK. The Wireless Direct mode is enabled, and the device connects to the printer wirelessly.
Connect the device to the printer.

Enable Wi-Fi on your device's settings menu. For more information, see your device's instruction manual.

Select DIRECT-XXXX-TR8500series (X represents alphanumeric characters) from list displayed on device.
If DIRECT-XXXX-TR8500series doesn't appear on the list, wireless direct isn't enabled.

Enter the password. Your device is now connected to the printer.
You can check the password via the printer's touch screen display or the printed the network settings information sheet.

A password might not be required based on your device.

A wireless direct compatible device is set to prioritize Wi-Fi Direct. Next, the printer displays a confirmation screen which allows the device to connect to the printer.

Check the LCD's name is the same as your wireless communication device, and select Yes.
Print and scan with Wireless Direct.

Change the Wireless Direct setting.
If you change the Wireless Direct setting of the printer, update the device's wireless router setting.

Make sure printer is turned on.

Select the Setup icon on the HOME screen.

Select Settings icon .

Select Device settings .
-
Select LAN settings.

Select Wireless Direct.

Select a setting item:

Change the SSID/device name (A).
The identifier (SSID) is the printer's name (device name) displayed on a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device.

Change the password (B).
-
Change the confirmation request settings (C).

Select (C).

To display the confirmation screen when a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connected to the printer, select Yes.
To prevent an unauthorized access, we recommend you don't change the setting from default.

Check the current Wireless Direct settings (D).

Select (D).
-
To check the current Wireless Direct settings, select Yes.
If you select Print details, you can print the network settings.

Press the HOME button to display the home screen.
