Description

Cleaning the printer's interior.

Solution

Cleaning the Interior (Print Area)

Regularly clean the interior of the machine to avoid deterioration in print quality or performance due to paper dust or ink spots.

If printed paper is smudged, perform Bottom plate cleaning.

If the print result is still smudged even after doing bottom plate cleaning, clean inside of the machine using a swab.

  1. Ensure that the printer is powered on .

  2. Fold a letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise (see illustration below) and then open it.

  3. Load it into the rear tray with the opened side facing up.

  4. Perform Bottom plate cleaning.
    1. Press the <HOME> (A) button.

    2. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (B) or press the right / left arrow to select [Settings], then press the <OK> button.

    3. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (B) or press the right / left arrow to select [Maintenance], then press <OK>.

    4. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (B) or the press up / down arrow to select [Bottom plate cleaning], then press <OK>.

      Note:
Do not do other operations until bottom plate cleaning is completed.

  5. Inspect the discharged paper.
If ink can be seen on the paper, repeat the cleaning process.

    Note:
If the discharged paper is still dirty after you have run this cleaning process three times, the inside of the machine is probably dirty.

  1. Turn off the machine and disconnect the power cord.

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) until it stops.

  3. Wipe ink off the ridges <1> (shown by the arrow) and their sides <2> using a swab.

    Caution:
Do not touch the transparent film or any metal parts within the machine. (Doing so may damage the machine.)
