Description

Learn how to print, delete and save the fax documents stored in the memory of your PIXMA MX410.

Solution

You can print or delete the faxes stored in machine's memory. You can also save the received faxes stored in machine's memory on a USB flash drive.

 If you disconnect the power cord, all the documents stored in memory will be deleted. Send or print necessary documents before disconnecting the power cord.



Manage stored faxes

To print a document in machine's memory.

To delete a document in machine's memory.

To save a document in machine's memory to USB flash drive.

 When you confirm, print, or delete a document stored in machine's memory, you select it by its transaction number.

 
 

Print a list of documents in memory

  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Load the paper.
     
  3. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  4. Select Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.

     If no document is stored in machine's memory, No documents in memory displays on the LCD.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow  to select Print memory list, then tap OK.
  • A list of documents stored in memory prints.

    • A transaction number from "0001" to "4999" is a document being sent. A transaction number from "5001" to "9999" is a document being received.

    • There may be a mark before the transaction number.

      • No mark: Indicates a black and white document.

      • : Indicates a color document.

      • : Indicates the document during transmission.

      • &: Indicates the document sent with sequential broadcasting

      • By pressing the button or the Tone button, the transaction number displayed on the LCD is switched to transaction time or fax/telephone number.


         

Print a document

Follow the steps below to print a specific document.

  1. Turn the printer on
     
  2. Load paper.
     
  3. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  4. Tap Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow   to select Print specified doc., then tap OK. The document selection screen displays.

  1. Use the left or right arrow   to select the transaction number (TX/RX no.) of the document you want to print, then tap OK.
     
  2. Use the left or right arrow  to select whether to print only the first page of the document, then tap OK.
  • If you select Yes, only the first page of the document will be printed. The document will remain stored in machine's memory.
     
  • If you select No, all pages of the document will be printed.
  1. Confirm if you want to delete the printed document from the printer's memory.
  • If you select Yes using the left or right arrow   and tap OK, the printed document in machine's memory is deleted.

  • If the selected document is not in machine's memory, no document displays, and the machine returns to the previous screen.

  1. To print other documents, repeat the Steps 7 and 8 or to return to the Fax standby screen, tap Stop.



Print all documents

Follow the steps below to print all documents.
 
  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Load paper.
     
  3. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  4. Tap Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow   to select Print all RX docs, then tap OK.
     
  7. Use the left or right arrow   to select Yes, then tap OK.
  • All the documents in memory will print.
     
  • Each time a document prints, you will have to confirm if you want to delete it from the printer's memory.
     
    • If you select Yes using the left or right arrow   and tap OK, to delete the document.



Delete a document

Follow the steps below to delete a specific document.
 
  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  3. Tap Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  4. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Delete specified doc., then tap OK. The document selection screen displays.

  1. Use the left or right arrow   to select the transaction number (TX/RX no.) of the document you want to delete, then tap OK.
     
  2. Use the left or right arrow   to select Yes, then tap OK. The specified document will be deleted from machine's memory.
     
  3. To delete other documents, repeat steps 6 and 7 or to return to the Fax standby screen, tap Stop.

 


Delete all documents

Follow the steps below to delete all documents.

 This function is not available while the machine is receiving a fax.

 
  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  3. Tap Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  4. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Delete all documents, then tap OK.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow   to select Yes, then tap OK.
 All the documents in machine's memory will be deleted.
 
 

Save a document to a USB flash drive

You can save the received faxes stored in memory to a USB flash drive as PDF files using the operation panel of the machine.
 
You can save a document in memory to the USB flash drive or save all the documents in its memory to the USB flash drive at a time.
 
 Don't remove the USB flash drive from the machine until the save is complete.
  • For safety reasons, we recommend you back up faxes saved on a USB flash drive to another media periodically to avoid unexpected accidents.
     
  • We assume no responsibility for damage to or loss of data for whatever reason even within the warranty period.

 


Save a document to a USB flash drive

Follow the steps below to save a specific document to a USB flash drive.

  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Insert the USB flash drive into the Direct Print Port.
     
  3. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  4. Tap Menu button, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow   to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow   to select Save specified doc., then tap OK. The document selection screen displays.

 

  1. Use the left or right arrow   to select the transaction number (TX/RX no.) of the document you want to save, then tap OK. The selected document is saved on the USB flash drive.
     
  2. To save other documents on the USB flash drive, repeat step 7 or to return to the Fax standby screen, tap Stop.

 


Save all documents to a USB flash drive

Follow the steps below to save all documents to a USB flash drive.

  1. Turn the printer on.
     
  2. Insert the USB flash drive into the Direct Print Port.
     
  3. Tap FAX, the Fax standby screen displays.
     
  4. Tap Menu, the Fax settings screen displays.
     
  5. Use the left or right arrow    to select Memory reference, then tap OK.
     
  6. Use the left or right arrow   to select Save all documents, then tap OK.
     
  7. Use the left or right arrow   to select Yes, then tap OK.  All the documents in machine's memory will be saved to the USB flash drive.
  • You can save up to 50 pages of a fax as one PDF file.
     
  • You can save up to 2000 PDF files on a USB flash drive.
     
  • Faxes are saved in the order of transaction number when Save all documents is selected.
     
  • If the USB flash drive is removed or becomes full while saving faxes is in progress, an error message displays on the LCD. Tap OK to dismiss the error.
     
  • The folder and file name of faxes saved on the USB flash drive look like this.
    • Folder name: CANON_SC\FAXDOC\0001- File name (file extension: PDF): Running numbers, starting from FAX_0001- File date: The date and time of saving as set in the machine.



Good to know

Documents are typically stored for the following reasons.

  • If the sending faxes is not complete or the machine was not able to print the received faxes, these faxes are stored in machine's memory.
     
  • If an error occurred during a fax transmission, the document is not stored in memory.
     
  • In some cases, the machine isn't able to print the fax and will automatically store it in memory.
