Checking the status of the machine (Printer Configuration Utility)
The printer configuration utility enables you to check the progress of print jobs and the status of the machine. The status of the machine is displayed in real time and you can track the progress of individual print jobs. The printer configuration utility will also tell you if an error has occurred, if ink is running low, and how you should fix problems. If your OS is earlier than Mac OS X v.10.3, you can use the Print Center to check the print status.
To start the printer configuration utility
When printing begins, the Printer Configuration Utility (for versions other than Mac OS X 10.3 the Print Center) starts automatically and is displayed in the Dock. If there is a condition such as an error, a ?!? is displayed next to the Printer Configuration Utility icon in the Dock.
