Using the Printer Configuration Utility MP750 / MP780 (MacIntosh)

Solution

Checking the status of the machine (Printer Configuration Utility)

The printer configuration utility enables you to check the progress of print jobs and the status of the machine. The status of the machine is displayed in real time and you can track the progress of individual print jobs. The printer configuration utility will also tell you if an error has occurred, if ink is running low, and how you should fix problems. If your OS is earlier than Mac OS X v.10.3, you can use the Print Center to check the print status.

To start the printer configuration utility

When printing begins, the Printer Configuration Utility (for versions other than Mac OS X 10.3 the Print Center) starts automatically and is displayed in the Dock. If there is a condition such as an error, a ?!? is displayed next to the Printer Configuration Utility icon in the Dock. Clicking the icon in the Dock opens the Printer Configuration Utility dialog box where you can confirm the status of the machine. To launch the Printer Configuration Utility at times when not printing, do the following. There are two ways to launch the printer configuration utility:

  • Start it from the hard disk
  • Start it from an application

To start the printer configuration utility from the hard disk

In the Apple menu , select System Preferences then Print & Fax. Depending on OS version, select either Open Print Queue... or Print Queue...

To start the printer configuration utility from an application

  1. Display the Print dialog box.

  2. Select Edit Printer List from the Printer pop-up list. *If using OS X 10.5.x choose Print & Fax Preferences, then select the printer and click Open Print Queue...
    The printer list is displayed.
