Solution

Things to check during wireless setup

During the wireless setup portion of the software installation, you may get a message that the printer could not be detected on the network.
  1. Make sure the printer, access point or router, are on. Cycle them all off and back on.
  2. Check to see if your computer's firewall software is blocking the connection. Try suspending your firewall during installation.
  3. In the Check Printer Settings dialog that can appear during installation, select Redetect. If the problem persists, continue to step 4.
  4. Confirm that the computer is not connected to a VPN and is connected to the same network as the printer. On the computer, the current wireless network is usually available in the task or menu bar.
  5. On the printer's operation panel, press MENU and then use the    buttons to go to Setup -> Device Settings -> LAN settings -> Confirm LAN settings -> WLAN setting list
  6. Confirm that the connection is active and that the SSID matches the network the computer is using. If the connection is not active, the printer is not connected. Perform the wireless settings again. If the connection is active and the networks match, go on to step 7.
  7. Use administrative tools for your access point or router to confirm MAC addresses are not being filtered. If they are, add the MAC address of the printer. At the printer, press MENU and then use the    buttons to go to Setup -> Device Settings -> LAN settings -> Confirm LAN settings -> WLAN setting list. The MAC address is listed.
