Uninstalling the Driver and/or Software (LiDE 90)

Uninstalling Scanner Driver (ScanGear)

The scanner driver you no longer use can be deleted.
Exit from all applications in use when you delete the scanner driver.

The procedure to delete the unnecessary scanner driver is as follows:

<Windows>

  1. Remove the USB cable connecting the scanner and computer.
  2. Click the Start, point to (All) Programs, CanoScan LiDE 90, then click Uninstall.

    Important:
    In Windows Vista, a confirmation/warning dialog box may appear when installing, uninstalling or starting software.
    This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.
    If you are logged on to an administrator account, click Continue or Allow to continue.
    Some applications require an administrator account to continue. If you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.

  3. When the Scanner Driver Uninstaller dialog box is displayed, click Execute.

  4. Click Yes when the confirmation message appears.

  5. When all the files have been deleted, click Complete.
    The deletion of the scanner driver is complete.

<Macintosh>

  1. On your hard drive, open [Library] - [Image Capture] - [TWAIN Data Sources] folders, and then drag the [(your scanner model).ds] icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.
  2. Restart the computer.

The scanner driver is uninstalled.

Uninstalling MP Navigator EX

<Windows>

  1. Click the Start, point to (All) Programs, Canon Utilities, MP Navigator EX..., and click the MP Navigator EX Uninstall icon.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall MP Navigator EX.

<Macintosh>

  1. On your hard drive, open [Applications] - [Canon Utilities] folders, and then drag the [MP Navigator EX...] folder to the [Trash].
  2. Drag the [MP Navigator EX...] icon on the Desktop to the [Trash] icon.
  3. Restart the computer.

Installing the Software - CanoScan LiDE 90 (Windows & Mac)

  • Do NOT connect the scanner to a computer before installing the software. If you connect the scanner and the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, unplug the USB cable from the computer, and then click [Cancel] to close the screen.
  • Quit all running applications before installation, including anti-virus software.
  • To upgrade from Windows© XP to Windows Vista, first uninstall software bundled with the Canon scanner.
  • Log in as an administrator to install the software.

  1. Place the CanoScan Setup CD-ROM in the drive.
    • For Macintosh: Double-click the [Setup] icon. Enter the administrator ID and password on the authentication dialog box.
  2. For Windows Vista, when the [AutoPlay] dialog box appears, run the setup program, and then click [Continue] to proceed when the [User Account Control] dialog box appears.

    For Windows 2000/XP and Macintosh, skip this step and go to step 3.
  3. Click [Easy Install] on the main menu.
  4. Click [Install] to start installation.
    Carefully read the License Agreement, and then click [Yes] to proceed.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the installation.
  6. When the Registration dialog box appears, follow the on-screen instructions to ensure product support.
  7. When the installation is complete, click [Restart] to restart your computer.
    After restarting the computer, "Solution Menu" will appear.
    Do not click a menu on the Solution Menu screen at this time.
