Set up bidirectional to enable your computer to communicate with your printer.
 

Solution

Note This article provides directions for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows Vista,  Windows XP,  and Windows 2000.


Enable bidirectional support

To learn how to access printer Properties, scroll below to the Windows version used on your computer and follow the instructions:


For Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Windows 10

  1. On your keyboard, hold the windows Icon key and press X.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Select Devices and printers.
    The Devices and printers window opens.

  4. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Printer properties from the menu that appears.

  5. Now, click here to go to the next step.


For Windows 7

  1. Click the Start button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then click on Devices and Printers.

  2. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Printer properties from the menu that appears.

  3. Now, click here to go to the next step.


For Windows Vista

  1. Click Start from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Printers.

Note If you are in Classic view, click Printers directly from Control Panel.

  1. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Printer properties from the menu that appears.

  2. Now, click here to go to the next step.


For Windows XP Home Edition

  1. Click the Start button from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes.

  2. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Properties from the menu that appears.

  3. Now, click here to go to the next step.


For Windows XP Professional Edition

  1. Click Start from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then Printers and Faxes.

  2. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Printer properties from the menu that appears.

  3. Now, click here to go to the next step.


For Windows 2000

  1. Click Start from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then Settings > Printers.

  2. Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select Properties from the menu that appears.

  3. Now, click here to go to the next step.


 In the printer's Properties window, select Ports, then Enable bidirectional support.

Your computer is now connected to the printer you selected.
