The instructions below will show you how to remove a paper jam from your printer.
Before you begin
If you turn off or unplug the printer you may stop a fax in progress or delete any faxes stored in the printer's memory.
- If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the printer off and turn it back on. The paper may be ejected automatically.
Paper jam in the paper output slot or the rear tray

Slowly pull the paper out, either from the rear tray or from the paper output slot, whichever is easier.

If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the printer, turn the printer off, open the scanning unit (cover), and remove the paper. Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer.

After you remove all paper, close the scanning unit (cover), and turn the printer back on.

Reload the paper, and press the OK button on the printer.
When you reload the paper, confirm that you use the correct paper and is loaded correctly.

If you turned off the printer, all print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary
Paper Jam inside the printer at the transport unit

Detach the rear cover.

Pull the paper out slowly.
Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer or you may damage them

Attach the rear cover. Push the left side of the rear cover until it is closed completely.

Remove the cassette if you were not able to remove the paper out in step 2

Pull the paper out slowly.

If any paper sticks out of the cassette, remove the paper, align and reload the paper in the cassette.
When you reload the paper into the printer, confirm that you use the correct paper and load it into the printer correctly.

Insert the Cassette into the printer again, and press the OK button on the printer.
- If you turned off the printer, all print jobs in queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.
Paper is jammed in the automatic duplex printing unit

Turn off the printer, and unplug the power cord of the printer from the power supply.

Remove the cassette.

If the paper is loaded on the rear tray, remove the paper from the rear tray and retract the paper support.

Set the printer upright with the left side down.
When you stand the printer, make sure that the scanning unit (cover) is closed securely or you may damage the printer

Slowly pull the jammed paper out so that the paper does not tear.
Set the printer back to its original position immediately after you remove the paper jam.

Align the paper, then reload it in the cassette. Reload paper in the rear tray, if necessary.
When you reload the paper into the printer, confirm that you use the correct paper and load it into the printer correctly.

Insert the cassette into the printer again.

Plug the printer back in and turn the printer back on.

All print jobs in queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.
In other cases
Check 1: Are there any foreign objects around the paper output slot?
Check 2: Are there any foreign objects in the rear tray?
Check 3: If there are any foreign objects in the rear tray, be sure to turn off the printer, unplug it from the power supply, then remove the foreign object.
Check 3: Is the rear cover closed completely?
Check 4: Is the paper curled?
