Sending a fax Overseas (from the U.S.)

Follow these steps to send a document Overseas (from the U.S.).

1. Place the document on the platen glass or load it in the ADF, then press <FAX>.
   
   
   If sending an A5-size document, align it with the A4-size marks on the platen glass, or adjust the slide guides to the A4 width and load the document in the ADF. Otherwise, the recipient will not receive the whole document.
   
   
   
2. Adjust any necessary settings for your document.
   
   • Press <Image Quality> to select the fax resolution.
   • Press <Exposure> to select the scan density.
   
   
   
3. Use the numeric keys to dial "011".
   For additional details on international access codes (or codes other than the U.S.) contact your local telephone company.
   
   
   If you enter a wrong number, press <> to delete the last digit. Or press <Clear> to delete all the digits you entered.
   
   
   
4. If necessary, press <Pause> to enter a two-second pause (,).
   
   
   For longer pause, press <Pause> again for another two-second pause. Alternatively, you can change the length of the pause.
   
   
   
5. Use the numeric keys to dial the country code, the area code, and the fax/telephone number of the other party.
   For additional details on international codes, contact your local telephone company.
   
   
   • If you enter a wrong number, press <Stop/Reset>, then start again from step 3.
   • If you make a mistake, press <> to delete the last digit. Or press <Clear> to delete all the digits you entered.
   • You cannot enter a pause at the end of the fax/telephone number.
   
   
   
6. Press <Start>.
   
   
   • To cancel sending after dialing has started, press <Stop/Reset>, then follow the instructions in the LCD.
   • To take advantage of the speed dialing features of the machine, register frequently used overseas numbers for one-touch or coded speed dialing.
