Resolve USB Connection Issues in Windows 11 - PIXMA / MAXIFY / PIXMA / iPF PRO / CanoScan

Description

This article provides some important information to regarding using PIXMA, MAXIFY, CanoScan, or PIXMA PRO (and some imagePROGRAF PRO) models via USB with Windows 11.

Read First

Microsoft has released an update for Windows 11 that addresses issues related to USB printing. Please install this update if you are experiencing problems with installing or using your product via USB.
 

Original Information

If you want to use your PIXMA, MAXIFY, CanoScan, or PIXMA PRO (and some imagePROGRAF PRO) model with Windows 11 with a USB connection, please keep the following information in mind.

 A list of models supported in Windows 11 can be found here.

Printer Driver

For some printer models, when connecting via a USB cable, the printer cannot be detected, and the installer does not proceed to the next stage.
*The driver has been installed. Accordingly, printing is available.
*Even if [Cancel] is selected, IJ Printer Assistant Tool is not installed.
[Workaround] Remove and reinsert the USB cable. However, please note that when installing drivers for printers with faxing capabilities that the installer may not proceed.

<Models supporting FAX function>
When the printer is connected with a USB cable, an icon for the FAX is not created during the driver installation process.
[Workaround] Restart the PC when the printer is connected via USB.
 

Master Setup (Full Driver & Software Packages)

For some models, when setting up the printer via a USB cable, after the USB cable is connected, an error screen appears without the driver installed.
[Workaround] Click [Back to Top] to perform the setup again. If it still fails, uninstall the printer driver once, and start the setup while the printer is connected via USB.

 

Scanner Driver

<LiDE300 / LiDE400>
During the scanner driver installation, the print spooler service may stop, and the scanner driver cannot be installed.
*If the print spooler service has stopped, you cannot perform printing.
[Workaround] Unplug the USB cable, restart the PC, then try the driver installation again.

<Multifunction Printers>
After the MP Drivers are installed via and a USB cable is connected, when the printer is turned off or the OS is restarted after the USB cable is disconnected, scanning from the buttons on the printer is not available.
[Workaround] Restart the PC when the printer is connected via USB.
