Whenever you set the power switch to <ON> or <OFF>, the Self Cleaning Sensor Unit operates to automatically shake off the dust on the front of the sensor. Normally, you need not pay attention to this operation. However, you can execute the sensor cleaning at anytime as well as disable it.
1. Set the power switch to <ON>.
2. Press the <MENU> button to bring up the menu.
3. Press the <Cross Keys> to select < 
>.
3. Select the Sensor Cleaning settings.
3-1. Press the <Cross Keys> to select [Sensor cleaning], then press the <SET> button.
3-2. Press the <Cross Keys> to select [clean now] from the menu that appears, and then press the <SET> button again.
4. Press the <Cross Keys> to select [OK] from the screen that appears, then press the <SET> button.
The screen will indicate that the sensor is being cleaned. Although there will be a shutter sound, a picture is not taken.
Reference:
- For best results, do the sensor cleaning while the camera bottom is placed on a table or other surface at a perpendicular angle.
- Even if you repeat the sensor cleaning, the result will not improve that much. Right after the sensor cleaning is finished, the [Clean now] option will remain disabled temporarily.
5. Press the <MENU> button and turn off the display on the LCD monitor.
