Recording Movies on a Memory Card - ZR70mc

You can record Motion JPEG movies with the camcorder, from a tape in the camcorder or from devices connected via the DV terminal or the AV terminal. The sound of a movie recorded on a memory card will be monaural.

Recording with the Camcorder

  1. Set the camcorder to CARD CAMERA mode.

  2. Press the <start/stop> button to begin recording.
    - You can record up to 10 seconds in 320 x 240 and up to 30 seconds in 160 x 120.

  3. Press the <start/stop> button to stop recording.

    The camcorder starts writing the movie on the memory card.
  • Do not turn off the camcorder, change the position of the TAPE/CARD switch, disconnect the power source or remove the memory card while the card access display OR in the upper right corner of the screen or the card access indicator is flashing. Doing so could result in data damage.
  • When you are using a SD Memory Card, make sure that the protect switch is set to allow recording.
  • Do not load/unload a cassette during recording.

  • To use the self-timer, press the (self-timer) button before step 2 and press the <start/stop> button.

Recording from a Tape in the Camcorder

  1. Set the camcorder to PLAY (VCR) mode.

  2. Play back the tape.

  3. Press the start/stop button when the scene you wish to record appears.

    You can record up to 10 seconds in 320 x 240 and up to 30 seconds in 160 x 120.

  4. Press the start/stop button to stop recording.
  • A movie recorded from an image in 16:9 format will be vertically compressed.
  • The data code of the movie will reflect the date and time it has been recorded on the memory card.

Recording from Other Video Devices

You can record movies from devices connected via the S-video terminal or AV terminal (analog line-in function), or via the DV terminal on a memory card.

  1. Connect the camcorder to the video device.

  2. Set the camcorder to PLAY (VCR) mode.
    - If a cassette is loaded, make sure the tape is stopped.

  3. Connected device: Load a recorded cassette and play back the tape.

  4. Press the <start/stop> button when the scene you wish to record appears.

    You can record up to 10 seconds in 320 x 240 and up to 30 seconds in 160 x 120.

  5. Press the start/stop button to stop recording.

  • A movie recorded from an image in 16:9 format will be vertically compressed.
  • The data code of the movie will reflect the date and time it has been recorded on the memory card.
