Description

Learn to set up a PIXMA MP495 for use with a Windows computer over a wireless network (LAN) via the WPS Push Button method.

Solution

You can use the WPS® button on your router to connect your printer wirelessly. Your wireless router must support WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to use this setup method.

Before you begin

To use the printer with a computer, drivers will need to be installed. Installation time will vary depending on the speed of your computer.

Quit all running applications before installation.

  • Log on as an administrator.

  • Internet connection may be required during the installation.

  • If the firewall of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

WPS setup

  1. When the wireless router is ready, press and hold the WPS button on the router for about 5 seconds.

  2. Press and hold the Maintenance button (A) for about 5 seconds.
The LED (B) starts to flash.

The Wi-Fi® lamp (blue) (C) flashes while searching for an wireless router.

  3. Make sure that 1 appears in the LED.

If a timeout error (E > 2 > 1) flashes in the LED, tap Color, then start again from step 1.
