Solution

Changing the ISO Speed

Change the ISO speed when shooting in dark places or when you want to shoot with a faster shutter speed. You can choose from the following speeds: Auto High ISO Auto ISO 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600. This function is only available in the Creative Modes.

When in the Auto or Special Scene Modes, only or is used or the Special Scene Mode ISO3200.

1. Press the ISO button.


2. Use the or buttons to toggle thru the settings (ISO Auto, High ISO Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 (ISO3200 in the Special Scene Mode.)

  • Higher ISO speeds increase the image noise. To take clean images, use as low an ISO speed as possible.
  • Although the (Auto) sets the optimal ISO speed according to the light level when shooting. Since the ISO speed setting will automatically be raised in dark places, the camera will select a faster shutter speed and reduce the chances of camera shake.
  • Selecting High ISO Auto* sets the sensitivity to a higher value than the Auto ISO setting. This sets the shutter speed faster, reducing the potential for camera shake or blurry subjects compared with the Auto ISO setting.
    * Noise in the recorded image may be higher than for the ISO Auto setting.
