When the Color imageCLASS MF8170c machine is already on your network and set as a shared printer, you can use it via network. The easiest way to make the machine available for your computer is using network download. If your operating system is Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003, you cannot download the driver from Windows 98/Me servers.
The properties dialog box enables you to set up the printer configuration and configure the print settings for all Windows applications. The printing preferences dialog box enables you to specify the default settings for the printing options available when you print with the Canon Color imageCLASS MF8170c (only for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003).
