CMS-XML How to use stopped-down metering
Press the shutter button halfway or press the exposure preview switch (2) and turn the aperture ring and/or the shutter speed dial until the meter needle is in line with the battery check / stopped-down metering index. A red "M" will blink in the viewfinder to indicate manual aperture control. Press the shutter button all the way down for exposure.
CMS-XML AE-1 : How to use the backlight control switch.
In order to give correct exposure to your subject, press the backlight control switch (3) and hold it in until after you press the shutter button (14). This will give the subject 1 1/2 f/stops more exposure. Using the backlight control switch may also help you expose your subject correctly when it is surrounded by bright snow or a sandy beach in summer.
