For the MF229dw / MF227dw, the default setting is for 2-sided printing. Change the setting as necessary. The MF216n and MF217w do not automatically print 2-sided.
The serial number can be found on the label on the back side of the machine. MF217w/ MF216n MF212w The serial number is a three letter prefix followed by five numbers.
