If you get a blue screen when attempting to use the Scan Utility, this may be due to an incompatibility with the operating system that you are currently using.  For Windows XP users, the PIXMA MX472, MX479, MX452 and MX459 require at least "Windows XP SP3 or later".  "SP3" represents Service Pack 3.  If you are using Windows XP SP2 or earlier, compatibility is not guaranteed or supported.

Note:  There may be cases where a Windows XP SP2 computer will run the software without issue.  However, this configuration is neither supported nor guaranteed.  It is recommended to update to at least Windows XP SP3 or later.
