Description
This article explains how to update the firmware of the PIXMA MX472 / MX479 / MX532 using the operation panel.

You can update the firmware of the machine via the Internet.
Important
-
Make sure that the printer is turned on.

Press the Setup button.
The Setup menu screen is displayed.

Use the button to select Device settings, then press the OK button.

Use the button to select Firmware update, then press the OK button.

Use the button to select Install update, then press the OK button.
The machine starts searching for the latest firmware on the server.
Note
-
Check the status of the firmware on the server.
If the latest firmware is on the server, The latest firmware is on the server is displayed on the LCD. Press the OK button to proceed to the next procedure.
If the current firmware on the machine is the latest one, Your firmware is the latest version; update is not required is displayed on the LCD. Press the OK button to finish the procedure.
Note

Check the firmware version that is displayed, then press the OK button.

Use the button to select Yes, then press the OK button.
- Check the message that is displayed, then press the OK button.
The machine starts the firmware update.
Important
- Do not turn the machine off until the firmware update is complete. In addition, the machine turns off automatically and turn on again while the firmware update is in progress.
- While the firmware update is in progress, do not change the settings of your wireless router.
Note
- If faxes are stored in machine's memory, the screen to confirm if you delete the stored faxes is displayed. If you press the OK button, all the stored faxes are deleted and the machine starts the firmware update.

Check the message that is displayed, then press the OK button.
The firmware update has been complete and the copy standby screen is displayed.

If the firmware update is not complete, print a network configuration page and verify that your printer has a strong signal. If the signal level is below 80%, try moving the printer and router closer to each other.
