Displaying the Viewfinder's Screen on an External Monitor

The screen of an external monitor or viewfinder connected to the EVF2 socket will show the exact same picture as displayed on the camcorder's viewfinder screen. Use the supplied external monitor cable to connect to a monitor or TV equipped with component video inputs.

Connection to a High Definition Monitor or HDTV1-1. Using the HD/SD SDI Terminal (XL H1S)



* If [SDI OUTPUT] is set to [OFF] (no embedded audio), the audio signal is separate from the SDI video output signal
- Activate the HD/SD SDI output and select the appropriate video output option (HD or SD).

Set the dial to .

  1. Open the menu and select [SIGNAL SETUP]. Select [SDI OUTPUT] and set it to [ON] or [ON(OSD)].
  2. From the same [SIGNAL SETUP] submenu select [SDI SPEC.]. Select [AUTO] or [SD LOCKED] to match the video output you wish to use.
  3. Close the menu.
    attention:
    - When [SDI OUTPUT] is set to [ON(OSD)]
    will appear on the screen and on-screen displays will be included in the video signal output from the SDI terminal.
    - When [SDI OUTPUT] is set to [ON(OSD)]:
    The on-screen displays included in the video output signal are determined by the display level selected with the EVF DISPLAY button. Markers (safety zone guide, level/grid markers, etc.) are never included in the video signal output.
    The [SIGNAL SETUP] > [COMP.OUT] setting is not available.

Using the COMPONENT OUT*

  • Select the appropriate component video signal depending on the TV or monitor you connect.

Open the menu and select [SIGNAL SETUP]. Select [COMP.OUT], select a setting option and close the menu.

Using the HDV/DV Terminal

  • When connecting the camcorder to a monitor or TV that supports DV input, you may need to carry out a procedure on the monitor or TV to recognize the camera.
  • If necessary, turn on the DV conversion and select whether to convert a tape recorded in HD to SD with the following procedure.

Using the VIDEO IN/OUT or S-Video IN/OUT Terminal

* To use the VIDEO terminals instead of the terminal, connect the TV to the camcorder's VIDEO OUT terminal using a BNC cable (commercially available), or connect the TV to the camcorder's VIDEO IN/OUT terminal using an RCA video cable (commercially available). note: We recommend powering the camcorder from a household power outlet. TV sets with S1-Video terminals: Recordings made with a 16:9 aspect ratio will be played automatically in widescreen mode if you connect the camcorder to the TV using the S-VIDEO terminal. TV sets equipped with the Video ID-1 System: Recordings made with a 16:9 aspect ratio will be played automatically in widescreen mode whether you connect the camcorder to the TV using the S (S1-) VIDEO terminal or the VIDEO terminal. During fast forward playback, rewind playback and reverse playback of a tape recorded in HDV standard, the picture may be distorted.

Connection to a Standard Definition TV or Monitor using the COMPONENT OUT Terminal

* The audio signal is separate from the component video signal.

  • Select the appropriate component video signal depending on the TV or monitor you connect.

  • Open the menu and select [SIGNAL SETUP]. Select [COMP.OUT], select a setting option and close the menu.

  • We recommend powering the camcorder from a household power outlet.
  • TV sets with S1-Video terminals: Recordings made with a 16:9 aspect ratio will be played automatically in widescreen mode if you connect the camcorder to the TV using the S-VIDEO terminal.
