Description

Adjusting the zoom on a DC320 or DC330 DVD camcorder

Solution

Zooming

The zoom is available when recording movies or stills. When recording movies () in addition to the 37x optical zoom (48x Advanced Zoom) you can also use the digital zoom.

When digital zoom is selected, the camcorder will switch to digital zoom (light blue area on the zoom indicator) when you zoom in beyond the optical zoom range (white area on the zoom indicator). With the digital zoom the image is processed digitally so image quality will deteriorate the more you zoom in.

37x optical (48x Advanced) zoom

Move the zoom lever toward W to zoom out (wideangle). Move it toward T to zoom in (telephoto).

You can also change the zoom speed. From the menu you can select one of three fixed zoom speeds or a variable speed that depends on how you operate the zoom lever: Press gently for a slow zoom; press harder for faster zooms.

  • The zoom speed will be faster in the stop and record pause modes.

  • Keep a distance of at least 1 m (3.3 ft.) to the subject. At wide-angle, you can focus on a subject as close as 1 cm (0.39 in.).
