The VIXIA HF series require AC power to connect to a computer

Solution

The VIXIA HF series camcorders cannot establish a connection with a computer unless they are being powered via the included AC power adapter CA-570.
  1. Connect the camcorder to AC power as shown below before plugging the USB cable into the camcorder.


  2. Power the camcorder on in Playback mode.
  3. After a few moments the device type selection screen will display on the LCD.
  4. Select [PC/PRINTER] to enable computer connection mode.
