Description

Disconnecting the camcorder from the computer

Solution

To ensure reliable operation and data integrity the VIXIA HF and HG series camcorders cannot be powered off while they are actively connected to a computer. To turn the camcorder off please use the proper safe device removal procedures for your computers operating system and then disconnect the USB cable. Once the cable has been removed the camera will then be able to be powered off.

Windows safe device removal procedure:

Macintosh safe device removal procedure:

  1. Click the arrow icon displayed in the system tray.



  2. Click on the Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drives (E:, etc...) text displayed.


    NOTE: One or two drive letters will be displayed depending on camcorder model and if a memory card is installed in the camcorder.

  3. Windows will display the safe removal message. You may now disconnect the USB cable from the camcorder.



  4. The camcorder may now be turned off.

Macintosh safe device removal procedure:

  1. Drag the Canon disc drive icon(s) to the trash can.
  2. As the icon(s) are dragged to the trash the trash can icon will change to an eject symbol.
  3. Remove the USB cable from the camcorder.
  4. The camcorder may now be turned off.
