Solution

In photographs of people taken with flash, the subjects eyes may appear red. This is due to light from the flash reflected from the persons eyes. This phenomena is call "red-eye". For flash shot when red-eye is likely to occur, the red-eye reduction lamp lights automatically and momentarily causes the person's pupils to contract thereby reducing the chance of red-eye. The red-eye reduction function operates automatically for shots taken in the fully automatic mode and portrait modes

When the shutter button is pressed halfway the indicators in the viewfinder will blink for 2 seconds to indicate that the red-eye reduction lamp turned on.

When the shutter button is pressed halfway until the indicators in the viewfinder stops blinking and reverts to normal, press the shutter button to take the photograph
