The self-timer allows the person releasing the shutter to also be in the photograph. Use a tripod when taking self-timer shots

Set the command dial to 
Press the shutter button halfway to focus
Press the shutter button down fully while looking through the viewfinder. The shutter will be released about 10 seconds after the shutter button press fully
- The red-eye reduction lamp will blink and light as follows until the shutter is released. For the first eight seconds.. the lamp blinks twice per second. For the final two seconds... the lamp remains lit
- The 10 second self-timer countdown to shutter release is displayed on the LCD panel
