How DEP (Depth of Field) mode works.

Solution

The depth of field AE mode is for obtaining wide depth of field between a near and far subject. If is effective for group shots and landscapes. The optimum point of focus, aperture and shutter speed are set automatically to obtain the desired depth of field. For DEP, you can specify the AF points manually or with Eye Control AF

  • To use this mode, the lens focus mode switch must be set to AF

Select the desired focusing point

Set the Command Dial to DEP

Aim the selected focusing point at the nearest point you want in focus, then press and release the shutter button. This is dEP point 1.

Aim the same focusing point at the farthest point you want in focus and press and release the shutter button. This is dEP point 2

  • The in-focus indicator lights and dEP (dEP 2) is displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel
  • You can also specify dEP points 1 and 2 in reverse order

Compose the picture and press the shutter button halfway to check the shutter speed and aperture setting

  • When you release the shutter button, dEP (dEP) and the aperture setting will be displayed
  • The exposure is set immediately before the shutter is released

Press the shutter button completely to take the picture
