Description

The VIXIA HF series use an HDMI cable with a Mini HDMI (Type-C) connector

Solution

Connection of HDMI Terminal

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a convenient, all-digital connection using a single cable for video and audio. When you connect the camcorder to an HDTV equipped with an HDMI terminal, you can enjoy video and audio playback at the highest quality.

  • The HDMI cable is not supplied with your camcorder. To connect the devices with the HDMI cable, please use a commercially available HDMI cable.
  • The VIXIA HF10 and HF100 use a Mini HDMI (Type-C) connector which can be purchased from your retailer or from Canon Accessory Sales.
  • The Canon HTC-100 cable offers a Mini HDMI (Type-C) connector on one end and a standard HDMI (Type-A) connector at the other end for connection to most HDMI inputs.

This section explains precautions when outputting video and audio from the HDMI OUT mini terminal.

  • The HDMI connection will recognize automatically the highest resolution supported by the connected HDTV, and output the optimal video signal to ensure the best viewing experience. You can confirm the current specification of the video output in the [SYSTEM SETUP] in [MENU] screen.
  • The HDMI OUT mini terminal on the camcorder is for output only. Do not connect it to an HDMI output terminal on an external device, as this may damage the camcorder.
  • There will be no video output from the AV/Headphones terminal or the component out terminal while the camcorder is connected to an external device using the HDMI cable. In such cases, only audio will be output from the AV/Headphones terminal.
  • Some HDTVs have their HDCP digital content protection configured so as not to allow the playback of personal content (video recorded for personal uses). If video recorded with this camcorder does not appear on your HDTV, try connecting the camcorder using the component cable and stereo video cable instead.
