Settings the Scanner Buttons to use Toolbox (Mac)

Before performing this procedure, make sure that CanoScan Toolbox is installed, and that the scanner is connected to your computer.

Mac OS X 10.3

  1. Open the Applications folder on the hard disk and double-click Image Capture. The preview scan should automatically start.
    Note: If a TWAIN screen is displayed, then you'll need to deselect the TWAIN software.
    1. Select Preferences from the Image Capture menu.
    2. Remove the checkmark from Use TWAIN software when possible. on the Scanner screen.
    3. Click OK and quit Image Capture. If you restart Image Capture, the preview scan should start.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Select CanoScan Toolbox for When a scanner button is pressed, open: on the Settings screen.
  4. Click OK and quit Image Capture.

CanoScan Toolbox should now start automatically the next time you press a button on the scanner.


Mac OS X 10.2.8

  1. Open the Applications folder on the hard disk and double-click Image Capture. The preview scan should automatically start.
  2. Select Preferences from the Image Capture menu.
  3. Select Other for When a scanner button is pressed, open:.
  4. Select CanoScan Toolbox in the file selection dialog box.
  5. Click Open and quit Image Capture.

CanoScan Toolbox should now start automatically the next time you press a button on the scanner.

Next, attempt to scan using the scanner buttons. If the issue continues to persist, then uninstall and reinstall the Toolbox and scanner driver using the latest drivers.
